It has been my dream since I bought this land at age 16 (with
the winnings from fighting at Lumphini Stadium) to one day
open a Thai boxing camp for women and children.
—Nong Toom ("The Beautiful Boxer")
From the moment Nong Toom and Steven Khan met they knew they were
kindred spirits. Both being advocates for the welfare of children and
women's equality; both being proud members of the LGBT community; Nong
Toom having an adopted daughter and Steven being an adoptee himself;
it was clear their paths had crossed serendipitously with a very
special purpose. That purpose is to build the Parinya Muay Thai Camp,
bringing distinctly different strengths, passions and voices to the
table. Currently, the land purchased remains an empty lot; but with a
little magic and the generosity of like-minded people they are certain
that one day soon there will be dormitories for the children, rooms
for the boxers, a kitchen and dining facility for all, a classroom
filled with computers and of course a boxing ring; a place where
people from all walks of life will be welcomed to live and train. To
ensure the camp's success it will take the combined efforts of the
Thai people and the international community. We invite you to join us
in our mission. Sawadee!
